I read this book when I was 15 years old and it really moved me. I bought a copy for my 10 year old son and I shared with him why this book was so important. He was very curious about the book and asked great questions. I think we live in a world where digital is consuming our lives, this is good AND bad. But one thing is for sure, it's not developing empathy for our younger generation.

Heartbreaking Memoir

This is a heartbreaking memoir of a Holocaust survivor, and the most honest insight I have read yet from survivors. I had no idea that the veteran prisoners ganged up on incoming inmates, and the author describes with brutal honesty how sons chose to abandon fathers in favor of their own survival. I pray that people read this memoir and realize that we must never allow history to repeat itself. The inclusion of his Nobel Prize acceptance speech is an added bonus to this updated version of the book.

Great, great, great book!

I read this book once back in school and then again as an adult, because, well to be honest in school I just wanted to PASS. I hardly took the time to really enjoy the story of this incredible book. It's a great, easy read. I gave it four stars because although the author, and survivor of this horrible event in history was very detailed and descriptive with his emotions throughout his struggle, I felt he held back on his accounts of what was going on in the camps. At times, it seems he sugar coats things. That's just my take on it. I loved it none the less but I definitely felt he held back a little bit. Maybe it was because it brought back too much pain, I don't know. But I recommend reading this book for sure!

Another delightful book by Karin Bishop! Her heroine manages to out maneuver the Russian mafia and keep them from getting mad at her. In the process, she gets a slimy ex-boyfriend in trouble, and thwarts an attempted illegal transfer of goods by the Russians. The characters are developed in Karin's inimitable style and become your friends as you read.

Now I've been readin Karin Bishop stories for over a year now and most her stories are usually TG in nature - The thing I like about her stories they are not sexual their are what life is and that what I enjoy about her stories. Here writing make you feel that you are the Charactor/or makes you feel that you wish you were that Character and goes just about every story I have read of her's and that is not just the ones here but the ones on anther site she writes at too! There is only one problem with this book.......

It ends too soon!

As is true with everything by Miss Bishop that I have read, the plot is outstanding, the characters fully fleshed out and extremely lifelike, and the style of writing such that the story flows smoothly from page to page - leaving the reader wondering where the time went and how they managed to read the whole book without realizing it was happening.

The title is somewhat deceptive and leads to wondering when the plot will move to the boat. I seriously kept wondering when and where the main characters were going sailing! Worry not though dear reader, all will be revealed in the fullness of time and eventually the title will make sense. In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the story of Amy and her quest to have a normal life, a successful career, and hopefully find someone to share her life with.

Nothing too serious - just the same things that every TG girl wishes for. Yeah, I know - I do too.

Another lovely story Miss Bishop. Keep writing; I'm running out of books of yours to read.

About the Author
Walter Alerich, BVE, MA, has an extensive background in electrical installation and education. As a journeyman wireman, he has had many years of experience in the practical applications of electrical work. Mr. Alerich has also served as an instructor, supervisor and adminstrator of training programs, and is well-aware of the need for effective instruction in this field. A former department head of the Electrical-Mechanical Department of Los Angeles Trade and Technical College, Mr. Alerich has written extensively on the subject of electricity and motor controls. He presently serves as an international specialist/consultant in the field of electrical trades, developing curricula and designing training facilities.

Stephen L. Herman--both an electrician and a teacher for more than 30 years--authored numerous popular textbooks on the subjects of electricity and mathematics. Now retired, Mr. Herman spent two decades as lead instructor for the Electrical Technology Curriculum at Lee College in Baytown, Texas, where he received an Excellence in Education Award from the Halliburton Education Foundation. He also taught at Randolph Community College in Asheboro, North Carolina, for nine years, and helped establish an electrical curriculum for Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant, Texas. The book they forgot to proof!

This is one of those books that spends more time telling you what you will learn from a chapter than what is actually presented in the material. It also asks review questions at the end of chapters that isn't explained until further in the book, if at all. Misprints are numerous and in some cases the material is just plain wrong, such as paragraph 1 on page 137 which claims that figure 23-1 can be locked off for safety reasons. Even if locked the start button would cause the motor to run if held in the on position. Hardly a 'safe' circuit. Our school required this book as part of its motors control course and every single student in our class is totally fed up with the errors and mistakes as well as the brevity of explanations.

I believe the book cover good knowledge but the test sections at the end of the chapters do not all match the sections in the book. Some randomly jump around to previous chapters or the answer required is given a paragraph that is only half of a sentence at the bottom of the bottom and is not always clear. It like this throughout the book. I would recommend this books unless it is a requirement for college as it was for more. Even our instructors will begin looking for another book for sequential quarters.

An Essential Reference

This book covers the design of welded "things" other that buildings and structures. The emphasis is on machine tools, and the replacement of castings with lighter, stronger, cheaper arc welded fabrications. There are plenty of design rules, guides and graphs usable without calculus by designers, draftsmen, and mechanics - you do not have to be P.H.D. to use this clear, well written text.

a real engineering book

This book is written in the old school way. That is, the intention of the writer is to make you knowledgeable in the stated topic of the book. You will need an engineering background to understand it. However, unlike most "engineering" books of today, it is not watered down by the legal department. It gives real engineering knowledge that is useful to real engineers. Omar Blodgett has taught me much through his measured approach and holistic view of the problems faced by real design engineers. Similarly, I've compared my grandfather's "Mark's Engineering Handbook" to my newer version and I much prefer the older version.
