About the Author
Douglas Fisher, a former language development specialist and teacher, is Professor of Language and Literacy Education at San Diego State University. He is the recipient of an International Reading Association Celebrate Literacy Award as well as a Christa McAuliffe award for excellence in teacher education. He is coauthor of Language Arts Workshop: Purposeful Reading and Writing Instruction (Merrill Prentice Hall, 2006).
Nancy Frey, a former classroom teacher and peer coach, is Associate Professor of Language and Literacy Education at San Diego State University. She is the recipient of a Christa McAuliffe award for excellence in teacher education. She is coauthor of Reading for Information in Elementary School (Merrill Prentice Hall, 2007).

Very informative

Writing and comprehension are two of the toughest things to teach. I am positive this model is going to stick with me for a long time. I have spoken to teachers and principals who swear by it.

Great Resource for Upper Elementary Teachers

This book does a great job describing the writing process and why writing is important for elementary school students. There are also lots of great ideas and suggestions that are applicable to the classroom.
