So Much More than a Book

I love this book. You will love this book. This is a book unlike any other, a book about Life - Linda Goodman's life; my life; your life. This is a wondrous journey, told in that rarest of literary styles: blank verse. But don't be put off by the word 'verse'; this book flows like magical necter, into your mind, your heart, your very soul. And it stays there.
It is difficult to choose adjectives to describe Gooberz. It is epic but intimate; heroic but personal; joyous but moving; spiritual but so real. Linda Goodman created a masterpiece with Gooberz - it is Homer with heart, Coleridge with joy. I wept with joy. I wept with sadness. I wept for the sheer beauty of the word pictures she draws. But I laughed, too. Laughed with shared happiness, laughed to have discovered such wonder.

Must Have Book for Grief Counselors

No matter if a medical professional, clergy, or spiritual practitioner, this book has a unique gift in helping those dealing with loss of a loved one and the grief that accompanies such loss. It is a wonderful collection of anecdotes, stories, poetry and tales from the foremost expert of astrology that made it a household word in the 70's, the esteemed author Linda Goodman.
I've been using this book for over 30 years as a Native American Medicine Woman (licensed and ordained Nat Amer Minister) and it has never failed me for bedside vigils of the dying and comforting the loved ones left behind.

Very Mixed

This book started off magically for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the beginning and found a few sections quite moving. However, I'm not sure that the same level of poetry is sustained throughout, and by the end there's an extremely long chunk of dialogue which struck me a clumsy device for Linda to share her New Age views on the universe. I'm surprised this hasn't been commented on more, as I found it rather jarring and bizarre considering how the rest of the book was handled. That being said, I've never read a book quite like this one. It's quite special at it's finer moments, so I might be inclined to read it again in a few years even it does blatantly try to shove some New Age mumbo down the viewer's throat.
